Nintendo 3DS for $250 in March, Decent Game Releases

The Nintendo 3DS handheld video game system will be released on March 27th, 2011.

According to major sources including Wired.com, the handheld system will be sold starting at $250. The system, although visually similar to the last version of the Nintendo Duel Screen system, has a lot more to offer.

First of all, and most obviously, the system is the first to offer mainstream 3D gaming in a handheld system. The amazing part about the 3DS is that it never requires you to wear special glasses to enjoy the three-dimensional effects. The Nintendo 3DS offers you a wider touchscreen, an even wider 3D display screen, an SD card slot, a retractable stylus, a new analog circle pad for controlling like a joystick, a motion sensor, and a brand new home button for easy access.

On top of the 3D aspect and other tools, the 3DS offers a plethora of extra features and improvements from the last version, some features completely unique to the Nintendo 3DS. For example, the 3DS offers three different cameras: one is inward facing, two are outward facing. The two outward facing cameras allow for 3D photography, giving you something no other gaming system can offer.

The most unique new feature is the 3D depth slider, a way for you to control your personal preference regarding the intensity of the 3D effect.

The lineup of games coming out along with the system is heavy with third-party developers. You will initially have access to classic game series like Street Fighter, Pro Evolution Soccer, Dead or Alive, Ghost Recon, Resident Evil, Madden, Splinter Cell, and the Sims, all in 3D. Eventually, games like Zelda and Mario (including Mario Kart) will reach the 3DS, but not at launch in March.
